🛡️ Our Services – Specialist Children's Residential Care

At Stourhead Healthcare, we provide specialised residential care for children and young people aged 10–17 years who require support due to emotional, behavioural, and social difficulties (EBD), trauma backgrounds, attachment disorders, and complex needs.

Our services are designed to offer safety, structure, and support, helping children begin their journey toward healing and growth.

🏡 Therapeutic Residential Homes

Each Stourhead Healthcare home is carefully designed to be warm, welcoming, and child-centered. We create environments that feel like real homes, not institutions — spaces where young people can experience stability, comfort, and care.

Our residential teams offer 24/7 support and supervision, including trauma-informed behavioural interventions, emotional regulation strategies, and personal development support.

We maintain low staff-to-child ratios to ensure each young person receives highly individualised attention, with consistent, trusting relationships at the core.

🌿 Child-Centered, Trauma-Informed Practice

Our homes operate using a trauma-informed, therapeutic approach.
We recognise that challenging behaviour often stems from earlier experiences of trauma, loss, or neglect — not from the young person’s character.

Our teams receive regular training in understanding trauma, attachment theory, safeguarding, and child development. By offering consistent, nurturing care, we aim to help young people form healthy attachments, build emotional resilience, and develop trust in adults once again.

🏫 Education, Health & Personal Development

We actively promote education as a vital part of each young person’s journey.
We work closely with local education providers, special education schools, and virtual schools to create personalised learning plans and overcome any barriers to education.

In addition to academics, we support children’s holistic development through life skills training, hobbies, sports, creative arts, and therapeutic activities.

We promote healthy lifestyles, including access to medical care, mental health services, and community activities that build self-esteem and social skills.

🫶 Family, Identity, and Future Planning

Whenever possible, we support contact with family members and important people from the child's life.
We help young people maintain a strong sense of identity and belonging while preparing them for eventual independence or reintegration into family life or foster care.

Our ultimate goal is to empower each young person to transition successfully — whether to family settings, foster placements, or independent living — equipped with the skills, confidence, and resilience they need for a positive future.
